Wedding Shower Favors

I'm not sure you remember, but my brother got married in December. I had made the invitations for his wedding and you can see them HERE.

In November, my mom gave my new sister-in-law a bridal shower and she asked me to make some favors to give to the attendees. I used the candy wrapper die and cut out 35 Basic Black wrappers. I then punched Very Vanilla with the lace punch a length that would wrap around the boxes. I punched a scallop oval from Cherry Cobbler and stamped and punched more Very Vanilla with the Best Wishes

I love the way these turned out! They were so elegant and yet very easy to make. I glued the boxes while watching TV one night and the rest went very fast.

We filled these boxes with Hershey's Kisses. I was surprised by how many kisses fit in each one. I think I got 8 into them! I have to tell you that we had a few left over. I brought them home and my dog, Patches, got into them! I had paper every where! Now before you get worried, my dog was find. There weren't that many left over, so the chocolate didn't make her sick!

He is Risen!

When I saw this single stamp in the new mini, I knew that I just had to have it! I used it for a swap right away. I went with white for the purity of Christ and the gold for royalty. The dove has been colored in with white shimmer paint and a blender pen. I don't know if you can see it but the one layer of white has been run through the Big Shot with Finial Press embossing folder.

Blue Butterfly

I know, I know, where have I been? Life is really crazy right now. I am starting to get into the swing of the new routine but I'm not completely there yet. It's easiest for me to let my blog slide a little. Not fair to you but it's what I have to do to keep my sanity! I am working on scheduling some posts. I think I can work on these over the weekends and get them ready to go for the week. Basketball is also coming to an end so there will be more free time without practices and games to run to.

This card was another card that I made for a swap that was due before Christmas. It highlights the Designer Frames embossing folders that you can get free with a $50 order! I LOVE Sale-a-bration!!! I used Creative Elements for this card too. It was one of the first stamp sets that I just had to have when the catalog went live in July but I haven't used it very much. I really need to give it some more lovin'!

Blog Hop Follow Up

I hope you enjoyed the blog hop this past weekend! There were some FABULOUS ideas and now I NEED so many more goodies! I don't think that my husband will like that too much. I just love how much everyone is willing to share their ideas and creations.

Now I know that I said I'd be back on Monday and then I let you down! Well, I took another part-time job and I started this job on Monday. I now have 4 jobs! That on top of my 4 kids and all the other activities that I'm involved in. Time just gets away from me.

Anyway, I promised that I would give you the recipes for my cards from the blog hop as well as the directions for the box in a bag. So here goes!

Here's the first card. I got lots of compliments on this little beauty! I stamped En Francis on Very Vanilla with Sahara Sand ink. The frame was stamped with Early Espresso right on top. The words were stamped on a separate piece of cardstock and punched with the curly label punch and then placed in the frame with dimensionals.

This next card was one that I did because I really wanted to use different colors than what is in the Everyday Enchantment. I pulled out Daffodil Delight, Basic Gray and Rose Red. The 3 colors were run through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka dot embossing folder and then I took the ink pads and run them over the dots to highlight the dots. I did fussy cut the frame. It wasn't as difficult as I thought it might.

I think this is my favorite card that I made for the hop. I really love the color purple so this was lots of fun to make. I used the center piece from the frame to create the images on this one.

The last project was my box in a bag. These have been around for a while and I'm not sure who first created them. You can find lots of directions on the Internet for them. I cut a piece of cardstock to 4 1/2" square and scored it on all sides at 1". Cut the tabs and then adhere the tabs to the sides to create a box. Cut your DSP to 5 1/2" by 11". Place sticky strip on one of the long sides and one of the short sides. Remove the red liner from the sticky strip on the long edge. Roll the box along the sticky strip to adhere the DSP to the box, starting in the middle of one of the sides of the box. When you get almost to the end, remove the red liner from the short side and adhere the short side to the other side of the DSP.

Clear as mud, right? Just ask your questions! I'm happy to answer. There are also several videos on You Tube that show you the step by step of this box in a bag!

I chose the stamp set called Elementary Elegance! I have to admit that I LOVED this stamp set in the catalog and then struggled to use it! After I just sat down and started working, it came pretty easy! I think some of my trouble was that I have seen this set used the the fantastically, marvelous Everyday Enchantment DSP and I really wanted to do something different. So I had a self imposed challenge with this set. I am confident that I have succeed in this challenge!

For my first project I created a birthday card. I used this card with my club last week and they really enjoyed it!

When you get this stamp set, the inside of the frame has a piece of rubber that you remove so you don't get any extra marks where you don't want them. KEEP THAT PIECE OF RUBBER!!! This card was created with that piece of rubber. I stamped with all the purples that Stampin' Up! sells. I love purple so this was made for me!

My next card I really stepped out on the colors but I LOVE the way this one turned out! Very unusual from what I've seen done with this set! (Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places! :) )

My last project is a Box in a Bag. These have been around for a while but I had never made one before so I thought this was a great time to give it a whirl! It was so much fun, I will be making these again!

Bright Mixed Bunch

And once again, I am sharing another swap! This one uses the stamp set Mixed Bunch. I'm LOVING this stamp set! It's hard to tell the colors in this photo. They are Daffodil Delight, Tempting Turquoise, and Calypso Coral. The Tempting Turquoise flowers on the white were stamped and then I used an aqua-painter to bring some of the color into the flower.

Once again I found myself doing a bunch of swaps! This is one of the cards that I had made for those swaps. This one uses the new Framelits and Edgelits dies for the Big Shot. I LOVED using the Framelits but was really struggling with the Edgelits. I couldn't get a straight cut with them! So frustrating! Then I starting looking online to see what others were doing to get a straight cut, after all, I couldn't be the only one that was struggling, could I? Turns out I wasn't alone! One suggestion was to lay post-it notes over the Edgelit die to hold it in place and it worked perfectly! I am now in love the the Edgelits too!

Christmas Tree 12x12 Layout

Here's another layout from my Scrap Booking Night from this fall. This layout was inspired from last years catalog. It may look a little putz y but it really wasn't. To make this very easy, Stampin' Up! has a punch that matches this stamp set so cutting out all those ornaments went lickety split!

Here's a close up of the left side of the page. This is the page that was inspired by last year's catalog. I love keeping those "old" catalogs because there are tons of ideas in them. It's so much fun to use the layout but change colors and/or stamp or to use the colors but change the layout.

Final Christmas Card...For Now

These are the final Christmas cards from 2011. You will still be seeing Christmas from me as I have joined the Christmas card group on Stampin' Addicts where we are all making our cards for 2012 a little each month. There is time for you to still join! Go to Stampin' Addicts and join our group!

I made 40 of each of these cards and then mailed them to some of my customers with a class schedule in them. They were quick and easy but yet striking. The white is actually the card and the Cherry Cobbler or Always Artichoke is just a base. These could still be used for thank yous or thinking of yous at this time of the year.

Yes, another Christmas card! I didn't get these posted during December. I was just too busy! But I really wanted to share them with you anyway.

This card was one of the Christmas cards that we made at my Christmas card class in December. It was lots of fun to make! The Pool background has been sprayed with Shimmer paint and alcohol mixture. I don't think you can really see the shimmer that's on this card. The words were spritzed with Pool Party marker with the Color Spritzer tool. It just added the right touch to this card! I'm LOVING the Silver Glimmer paper too! This paper is available too!

Lovely as a Tree Christmas

Neglected blog again! I'm trying to get organized and keep up on my blog. Please bear with me while I try to figure out how to get everything done and organized!

This is a card that we created at my Christmas card class in December. I know that we are pass Christmas but you still need inspiration for your cards for next year that you are going to be creating all year long, right? This card is pretty simple to create and it's flat so there's no chance of having to pay extra postage on it! Yeah! To make the oval area I die cut copy paper with oval frame die and then I taped the scallop frame back onto my copy paper so that I had just this oval opening. I sponged Wisteria Wonder in the opening and then stamped the trees with Concord Crush that was stamped off once first. Then I removed the mask and stamped the pine tree with Concord Crush full strength. I did put glitter on the pine tree but you really can't see it in the picture.

Occasions Mini Blog Hop Follow Up

First, I need to apologize for being gone so long and not posting! Life just got really crazy and I couldn't do everything. My blog isn't the only thing that didn't get done this last month!

Here's the first card from the blog hop. It has Melon scented embossing powder and boy does it smell yummy! I did use this card as a swap too.

I think this is my favorite card of this bunch! I was so happy with the way this turned out. I used the Stripes embossing folder to make the gingham background. I cut a piece of cardstock to 4 1/4" square. I brayered Old Olive ink on the embossing folder and placed the cardstock in the folder and ran it through the Big Shot. I took the cardstock out of the folder and re-brayered the folder with ink again. I placed the cardstock in the folder again so the stripes were perpendicular to each other and ran it through the Big Shot again. I then cut the cardstock down to the sized that I needed for my card.

And last but not least, the ice cream cone necklace! I got the most comments on this little gem of a project and it's so simple! I stamped the cone on Crumb Cake cardstock using craft inks. Then I cut the cone out of the cardstock and glued it down, cut it out again. Because the vanilla ice cream didn't show up well enough for me, I stamped it on Very Vanilla cardstock and cut it out. Now I know what you are thinking but Shelley, it will be backwards then! Ahh, my dear, I used some Dotto adhesive to place it on the vanilla cardstock again and cut it out again! The second one is the one that I glued to the cone. I punched a hole with the 1/16" handheld punch and covered the whole thing with Crystal Effects. Once it dried, I turned it over and put more Crystal Effects on the back. Then I put a jump ring in the punched hole and put it on my chain. See, easy peasy!!

Occasions Mini Blog Hop

The stamp set that I'm highlighting today is called Mouthwatering. It has 4 delicious treat images that you can use. I have used each image. The first one is a card that I used in a swap with other demos, so some of you may have seen this one already! If you have seen it, you might want to smell it too! I used the Melon embossing powder on the Popsicle! Yum, it smells so good!

The next card uses the great cherries in this set! I also used the new DSP called Sweet Shop. I'm loving this paper! The colors are faboo and the designs are so cute. I'm not into the large print DSP's and this one is much smaller and for me, easier to use. It helps that it's all bright colors and I love bright colors!

The third card that I created uses the watermelon image. I made the gingham background with the stripes embossing folder. Love how this turned out! Come back on Monday and I'll explain how I made the gingham.

My last project is something that I've wanted to create for a long time but just never took the time to get it done. This was just the push I needed to try it out. The results are an ice cream cone necklace! I'll explain the how to's for this on Monday too! It's not hard though and my girls are now fighting over this! They all want one!

I hope that I have given you some ideas for this great new stamp set! It has been lots of fun to play with and I think I still have a few more ideas to create! Stay tuned to see more!

Singin' the Blues

This is the other card that we made at my workshop. This card was so much fun to create and I got a lot of WOW's with the heat embossing. The words are embossing with silver embossing powder. I also had a lady book a workshop so she could earn the Big Shot at half price! She loved the dry embossing that you can create with the embossing folders.

Fall Workshop Card

I recently had the privilege to do a workshop with a friend of mine. This is one of the cards that we created at her workshop. This card is a Z-fold card and uses the stamp set Gently Falling and Spice Cake DSP. This was a fun card to create. We Rock n Rolled the solid image of the leaf with More Mustard and Cajun Craze and over stamped with Early Espresso.

Ornaments

These are some more projects from my Gift-ables class. The first ornament is my version of the ornament in the Holiday Mini. I have received several questions on how to create this ornament. The trick is to start with a square and roll it. Most guesses were starting with a triangle. It really didn't take that long to create this but it really has a WOW factor to it!

Paper: Holly Berry Bouquet DSP, Very Vanilla cardstock

Accessories: Boho Blossoms punch, 1 3/8" circle punch, Regal brads,

Tombo liquid adhesive, Early Espresso 1/8" taffeta ribbon, Crop-a-dile

This other ornament is even easier to create with the Simply Scored board. Score your paper every 1/2" or 1/4" and then accordion fold. I believe I had to use two strips of paper for both of the lollies in this ornament. The strips were 12" long. You can make your lollies different sizes depending on the width of the paper that you chose to use. They are lots of fun and super easy to create!

Giftables Class

I just had a class where we made some small gifts to give for Christmas. This loaf pan is a quarter of a regular loaf pan. We tied a ribbon around it and made a cute little tag for it. All my class attendees had to do was make some bread and bake it! What a fun gift to give to a teacher or neighbor or someone you want to give a little something.

Another little gift that we made was this notebook. I love having these notebooks around! They are so easy to carry with you and keep track of all those things that you need to know. We adhered Mocha Morning DSP to the cover of the notebook. Adhere the lace ribbon. Cut out some flowers and crunch them up. Smooth them out and adhere together with an Antique brad and onto the notebook. Stamp and punch the sentiment and Voila! You have a cute little gift that anyone can use!

Snowman Wiper

I received this card in a holiday card swap that I was in this fall. Angie Pegram created it. It was sitting on the counter with my other swaps and my club ladies really wanted to learn how to create this type of card and they wanted snowmen on it too! So I just CASEd this card from top to bottom! (In fact, I didn't even create one, I just used Angie's!)

October Christmas Cards

Here are my October Christmas cards. I joined a group of women at Stampin' Addicts where we are creating our Christmas cards each month so that we aren't trying to get them done on top of everything else that the Holidays bring! We get to pick how many cards to create each month. I use a lot of cards at Christmas because my husband is a pastor. I mail cards to our family and friends and give out more cards to our members! I have chosen to create 16 cards each month. I'm pretty sure I will have WAY more than I need but I didn't want to run out! Here's a group picture of all 16.

The Abby's (Abi)

One more Halloween picture. My Abi is a freshman in high school. She has two other Abby's in her class. I have been teasing the 3 girls that I was going to make them Abby 1, Abi 2, Abby 3 t-shirts for them to where to school! So I went ahead and created these shirts for the girls. My Abi picked out the color of the shirts and then I used my Big Shot to die cut the letters. I don't have a die with numbers on it so I created the numbers by cutting letters and cutting them to make the numbers. The 1 was easy, I cut an I and cut off the serif ends. The 2 and 3 were more of a challenge! The 2 is part S and part Z. The 3 is two S's that were pieced together. The girls LOVED these shirts and the teachers got a kick out of them. A couple of the teachers said they didn't realize that there are 3 Abby/Abi's in the freshmen class! I used sticky backed felt for the circle and the letters. Not really washable but something fun non the less! If I would have had more time I would have stitched all this onto the shirts. Oh well! We can't have everything!

My Abi is the one in the middle. Abby 3 is a young lady that my Abi went to grade school with too and they have been good friends for several years already. Abby 1 they both met at the beginning of school.

Fancy Favor Owl

This is the last treat holder that we made at my Treats class. I think this one is my favorite! This owl is just too cute. I started with a Chocolate Chip Fancy Favor box. I added circles for the eyes, triangle for the beak, layers of scallop trimmed cardstock and more triangles for the feet! Easy peasy and oh, so cute!

Tube Treat

Here's another treat that didn't get posted last week! This one uses the chipboard tube from toilet paper or paper towel. This was fun to create. I wrapped Designer Series Paper around the outside of the tube. The bottom and top are 3 layers of punched cardstock and a layer of DSP glued together. The ribbon is glued to the inside of the tube and holes were punched in one of the layered scallop circle. I placed a piece of DSP that was punched with the scallop border punch over the place where the ribbon was glued to the tube. Then I just decorated this tube with another piece of DSP and this great jack o lantern! All that's left is to fill it with some yummy treats and share with a friend!

Spider Candy Wrapper

I was intimidated by this die but now that I've used it, I'm looking forward to creating more of these fun wrappers! This is also my first lollie! I'm LOVING my Simply Scored!

I have to show off my girls from Halloween! This first picture is of my oldest two, Abigail (14) and Miriam (12). Miriam is dressed as a bunny and Abi is Sleeping Beauty! They went out on Sunday with some friends in a neighboring area because Miriam had basketball practice on Monday night during Trick or Treating!

Then on Halloween, my youngest two went out trick or treating and Abi walked along so she had to dress up again! So here's a picture of Abi as a leprechaun, Lydia (8) as a doctor and Belle (5) as an owl. I made the owl costume which was a feat for me as I don't sew and all those feathers are sewn on to the sweatshirt! I love the way the hat turned out. The largest part of the eyes is a metal scrubber for dishes!

Aren't they so cute? Time sure does go by fast! Seems like yesterday I was taking Abi trick or treating and she was only 6 months old! She was Piglet that year and we went to 5 houses just for the fun of it! These girls came home with a paper grocery bag FULL of candy! UGH! Now to hide it so I don't eat it!

Pumpkin Patch Double Layout

Would you believe that I have yet another double layout to share with you? Well I do! I again CASED this layout and changed a few things to make it my own set of pages. I loved the patchwork on this layout and it fit so well with the pumpkin patch theme! And that scarecrow is just too adorable to pass up. I really enjoy doing punch art and this little guy was just too much fun!

Gently Falling Box

This is the final project that we created at my club last month. It uses the Big Shot die name Box #2 and then there is a wrap around the box. I used the Spice Cake DSP for this project. I don't think you can see it in the picture but the leaf that is cut out has Gold Glow Smooch Spritz on it. I love the way this box turned out! My ladies loved it too! These would be so pretty for table decorations so some party.

Friendship Tree

This was a card that we created at out last club meeting. I made two different versions of it. The first one I used the Woodgrain background stamp on the card front. I stamped the Woodgrain with Soft Suede ink.

The second card I used the Square Lattice embossing folder for the background and sponged the edges with Cajun Craze ink.

Big Shot Blog Hop: Follow Up

Thank you so much for all the fabulous comments that you left over the weekend! I have been coaching a volleyball team this fall and our tournament was this past weekend so I didn't get a chance to see what you were posting. I'm humbled by your awesome comments! I had tons of fun creating these projects for the hop. Didn't everyone on the hop do an amazing job? I know that there are a few dies that will be on my wish list and several projects that I can't wait to find some time to try out!

I promised you the "How to's". Sorry I didn't make here yesterday to do this. Mondays tend to be incredibly busy in my house. So I'm here today! The card that I created, I made my own embossing plate. This is really easy and can be done with most of the dies for the Big Shot. Actually, it can be done with all of them but some of them you may not want to do this with them. I cut a piece of chipboard (I used the backing from the DSP) to the size of a card front. Then I cut 2 butterflies for each spot that I wanted to place them and glued them together. Then I placed them onto my chipboard card front and glued them down. Finally I ran it through my Big Shot using the same sandwich that I would for the embossing plates. You may need to add a shim to yours depending on your machine. Here's a picture of my card again.

Here's a picture of my new embossing plate!

My second project was this pretty bobby pin. I used a bobby pin that I purchased from a big box craft store in their jewelry making section. It has a flat spot on it so the butterfly has something to grasp onto. When my oldest daughter found this bobby pin, she claimed as her own! Boy am I glad that I got a picture of it! I am going to make a few more and experiment with the coloring of this. I feel it's a little dark but I think I'm in the minority!

I cut the butterfly from glossy card stock and then put a layer of Crystal Effects onto it. While it was still wet, I put a drop or two of reinker into the Crystal Effects. I used a pin and swirled the colors around the butterfly. I used Marina Mist and Certainly Celery on this on. I think I put too many drops of reinker into the Crystal Effects and that's why it's dark. I love the molten-ed look though! After it dried, I glued it to the bobby pin and added the rhinestones. You could make these into earring, bracelets, necklaces, drink markers, ornaments or anything else you can think of!

This box got the most comments of all my projects. It's really pretty in real life and I wasn't sure it would come out that way in a picture but it seems like you all saw it! I found the directions to this beauty on another blog and then changed the colors to what I wanted. You can find the directions HERE Amanda does such an amazing job with her directions, it would be foolish for me to try to copy them!

I did sponge my paper as it was too white and I wanted the vintage feel to this project. The butterfly has 3 layers to it, Early Espresso, Cardstock Vellum and Pear Pizzazz. The top layer has the flowers stamped and colored with markers. Then I stamped En Francais on top of that. I sponged White shimmer paint. When that as dry I sponged Crumb Cake on top of that and the edges were sponged in Early Espresso.

My last project was the scrapbook pages. I am posting some close ups of each page.

First is the double layout.

Then is the "Spooky" side. You can see here that the letters were spritz with Smooch Spritz and the background is sponged with Whisper White to create clouds.

And the "Night" side of the layout. The moon was punched and then crumbled up and Daffodil Delight ink run across it to give it the look that you see here.

On to my projects! I chose to use the Beautiful Butterflies die for my creations. I just love butterflies and had more ideas than time! I'm hoping to be able to create some of the other projects when life slows down...so that may be never! This first project is a card that I had made my own embossing "plate".

This next project is a butterfly bobby pin. I found the bobby pins at a big box craft store. They have a flat surface to adhere the butterfly too. This came out a little dark and not quite how I wanted it to so I'm going to try it again and see if I can get the ink to be lighter. Yes, it's that dark in real life too!

My third project is a beautiful box using the Top Note die and the Beautiful Butterflies die. It was a really easy box to make, especially with the new Simply Scored tool that Stampin' Up! came out with! I'm going to use this box as a gift so I stamped "Praying for You" because I wanted my friend to know that I'm praying for her every time she sees or uses this box.

My last project is a double page layout. I'm not a big scrapbooker. I am working on it and trying to do more! I saw on Stampin' Connections, this is an online community open to demonstrators, a page that used the butterfly wings as the spooky eyes and had to try my hand at it. I'm sure that if you saw her pages, you would know that I didn't totally CASE this but there are a lot of similarities.

I hope you enjoyed my creations using the Beautiful Butterflies die and that you now NEED to go purchase it! Thank You Pear

Here's a card that we made in club. When it was done, it felt like it was in need of an extra touch so I "borrowed" my friend, Tanya's idea and drew a line around the edge of the card! I love how this added just the right touch to complete the card.

Wedding Invites

My brother, Patrick, and his girlfriend of 7 1/2 years got engaged in August! Yeah! We are so excited for them! Well they may have dated for a loooong time but they don't believe in long engagements! They were engaged at the end of August and will be getting married the middle of December.

Me, being a papercrafter and all, had to know what they were doing for invites. We have been invited to a couple of wedding lately with homemade invites. All I could think of when I got them is "Why didn't they ask me for help?" They were nice but I could have made them special. I wanted to make sure that Patrick and Natalie's invites were special.

Natalie tells me that it will be a small wedding as they just don't want to have a large wedding. I'm thinking, "Good. Making the invites won't be so bad." So I volunteer to work with her and make these invites. What I didn't know when I first offered to make them is that she would need 180 invites!! What happened to small?

I only had 4 weeks to design, order and create these 180 invites! Natalie wanted to pick out the stamps that would be used on her invites. Who can blame her? I know that I would want to be part of that too! Well, she couldn't decide which stamp set she liked the best so I created 60 invitations with each set that she picked out.

Here are the results! The first one uses Serene Snowflakes.

This next one uses Baroque Motifs.

The last one uses Tree Trimmings.

Natalie's dress is ivory so we went with Very Vanilla. The hall will be decorated for Christmas so the Cherry Cobbler seemed like it made the most sense to use since the bridesmaids will be wearing black.

Natalie was thrilled with how they turned out when she picked them up last night. She was even happier when she realized that I also stamped the envelopes and the return cards for her!

Here's another card that I made for my club in August. I was in need of a sympathy card and I know that these are usually needed right away. You don't always know when you will need one so my club members were happy to have one in their stash of cards ready to go.

The So Saffron was stamped using clear block C. I inked up the block without a stamp and then stamped the block on Whisper White cardstock. I like the looks of this technique! The flower was stamped on Pool Party with Not Quite Navy ink and then I used an aquapainter to pull some of the ink into the flower. After it dried I fussy cut it out.

Final Swap...For Now!

I know that I promised that I would post this yesterday but the day was crazy. I was on the go from 7am to 8pm and then I still had to make supper. Posting here wasn't even on my mind until I went to bed. Then I realized that I didn't get over here. But I'm here now and ready to show you my cute little witch!

This is my final swap for now. (I say for now because more than likely I will be signing up for another swap soon!) I made this background by using a technique called Double Embossed. I started by rubbing the embossing buddy over a piece of Whisper White cardstock. I then inked up my Spider Web embossing folder with VersaMark ink. I inked it by directly applying the ink pad to the side of the folder that has the Stampin' Up! logo on it. Place the cardstock into the folder and run it through the Big Shot. Remove the cardstock and sprinkle it with a 50/50 mixture of black embossing powder and Dazzling Diamonds. Using your heat tool to emboss the mixture.

Jack of All Trades

Here's another swap. I still have one more to show you tomorrow. I guess I'm a little addicted to swapping. I really love swapping with my friends over on Stampin' Addicts. I have never been disappointed with my swaps from those ladies! This was for the WOW swap again. The pumpkins were stamped using the baby wipe technique. To do this you take a baby wipe and place drops of re-inkers and then use that as your ink pad. I added a few spritz of Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz too. It is hard to see but you can see the shimmer in real life. The Rich Razzleberry "brads" aren't brads at all. I didn't have enough to I created my own. These are actually 1/8" circles of cardstock with Crystal Effects over them.

Old Fashioned Christmas

As I promised, here's another one of my WOW swaps. This one uses a technique called Cracked Glass. The oval image is stamped on Very Vanilla cardstock with Soft Suede ink. I sponged Crumb Cake on the edges. Then I covered the entire surface with VersaMark ink and Clear embossing powder. Then I used my heat tool to melt the embossing powder. I did that 6 times to get a thick layer of embossing powder. Then I put the oval into the freezer for about 15 minutes. This cools the image down so that you can then crack the embossing. I then rubbed some Soft Suede ink into the cracks.

September's Snowman

I had time last weekend to do a little stamping. Miriam, my second daughter who is 12, asked if she could pick out something for me since Abi always gets too! I told her I needed to do some Christmas cards so she picked out Snow Much Fun and Certainly Celery and Bashful Blue. Then I went to my binder that I keep all my sketch challenges and color challenges in to pick out a sketch. This is Stampin' Addicts sketch challenge number 66. I sat down with the stamps, ink and sketch and came up with this little cutie. Miriam was amazed that I was able to create this so quickly! I decided to use it as my cards for the Christmas card challenge and my September addition. Here's a group shot of all 16.

Welcome Christmas Cards

If you have been reading my blog for a while, you know that I am part of a group that is trying to get Christmas/Hanukkah cards completed early so that no one is scrambling in December to complete these cards. There is enough to keep us all busy! Well, each month we are creating a certain number of cards so that we have enough to take card of our card lists. I have chosen to make 16 each month. I know that it's a lot but my husband is a pastor and I give out cards to many of the members of our church. He also receives gifts for Christmas and I use these cards at thank yous too!

These are my August cards. Yes they were completed in August. The 31st to be exact around 10pm! Most important thing is that they got done and I wasn't late! The first shot is all 16, have to prove that I'm actually making 16!

My Stacked Frogs

Well, here's another swap! I couldn't find the picture I took of the last swap from the Holiday Mini swap so I will show you this one and take another picture of the other and hopefully show you that one tomorrow!

This swap was to help us demonstrators to created simple cards that can be done in workshops with new stampers. We don't want them to feel overwhelmed or like they NEED to have it all to create a beautiful! Who are we kidding, OF COURSE YOU NEED IT ALL! Anyway, we were to use one stamp set, one color family, one punch and one accessory. Here's what I came up with using the new Ronald McDonald stamp set that Stampin' Up! will donate $3 of each set to the Ronald McDonald house. Ok, I told you that I really enjoy swapping with my fellow demonstrators. We recently did a swap in honor of the Stampin' Up! Holiday Mini that went live on September 1 and will be avaliable until January 3. This is one of the cards that I created for the swap. Abi helped by picking the colors again. When she brought out the colors, my thought was, "Those are great colors for a Thanksgiving card not a Halloween card!" Well, I sat done with them anyways and am really happy with the way this card turned out!

More Sounding Joy

Stampin' Up!'s Holiday mini went live yesterday! I was in a swap using the new stamps from this mini. For one of my swaps, I chose The Sounding Joy. This is the card that I created for one of my swaps. I stamped the star on glossy cardstock with VersaMark ink and then sponged the Night of Navy, Perfect Plum and Old Olive inks over it. Then I stamped the "Let Earth Receive Her King" and heat embossed it with the new pewter embossing powder. The right side of this card is embossed with the new embossing folder for the Big Shot, Snow Burst.

Purse Chocolate Holder

This was one of my club projects in July. It's a cute little purse that holds the Ghiradelli squares of chocolate! Needless to say, there is no chocolate left in this cutie! Yum!

Chocolate Pears of Hope

Here's one of the cards that we created at my last club meeting. It uses Stampin' Up!'s Strength & Hope stamp set. Today is the last day to get this beautiful set! Don't forget that Stampin' Up! is donating $2 from each set to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

The butterfly is rock and rolled. How do you do this? Well, it's really simple. First ink up your stamp in your lighter color, in this case Pear Pizzazz. Then roll the edges in the darker ink, here Chocolate Chip. Such a pretty effect without much effort!

Blog Hop Recap:The Sounding Joy

I had planned to be here yesterday to give you this info but life just got in my way! You don't even want to know what I did! I was so busy I just fell into bed last night! It doesn't look like the next couple of days are going to be any better!

Creating this beautiful background was a lot of fun. First I took a little gold embossing powder and mixed it with Dazzling Diamonds. You can mix this using up to equal parts of each. For this card I mixed it in a 4 to 1 ratio. I didn't want a ton of sparkle, just a little! Hard to see in the picture but it's there! Then I inked up my Snow burst embossing folder with VersaMark ink on the side of the folder that has the Stampin' Up! logo on it, placed my Very Vanilla cardstock in the folder (don't forget to use your embossing buddy!) and ran it through the Big Shot. After removing the cardstock from the folder, sprinkle it with your embossing powder mixture. Then use your heat tool to emboss the powder.

Here's another look at the ornament that I made. I started out with the top of a can of concentrated juice. Stampin' Up!'s 2 1/2" circle punch fits in these just perfectly! I punched Elegant Eggplant and then embossed the words with the new Pewter embossing powder. I adhered the cardstock to the juice lid and then filled the lid with Crystal Effects and sprinkled just a little Dazzling Diamonds on the wet Crystal Effects. After it dried, I added the ruffle on the edge. To create this I cut 1 1/2" of my DSP and punched both sides with the eyelet border punch and then cut it in half so that I had 2 long strips of punched DSP. Then I ran it through my crimper and adhered it to the back of the juice lid with Sticky Strip. To finish it off, I added the ribbon holder and another punched Elegant Eggplant circle to the back and the crown and pearls to the front!

I worked with the stamp set called The Sounding Joy. It's a beautiful script set based on the Christmas carol Joy to the World. My first project is kind of out of the box. I used the word Joy from the set to make a baby card! Babies really are a joy and it seemed appropriate to make this card. You can turned this into a boy or neutral or even a wedding or retirement card with a few changes!

Wisteria's Friend

When the new catalog for Stampin' Up! came out I just had to join another swap! Man, you are going to think that I'm addicted to swaps! Well, you would be right. They are so much fun to create and then when they come back, it's like Christmas! I get to do this anytime that I want, not just once a year! Gotta love that!

Flower Garden Swap

My oldest started high school today! I'm not real sure how I feel about it. I know that she is excited and will have a ton of fun but I can't believe that Abi is off to high school! Bitter sweet!!

Anyway, here's a card that I made for the Summer Mini swap that I was in. This is using the embossing folder Flower Garden. The embossing folder made it to the catalog! Yeah! I LOVE embossing folders! In fact Abi asked me the other day if I could make a card without using my Big Shot. I, of course, said yes but it will look better with using the Big Shot!!

We made this card at my club meeting a couple of weeks ago. I fell in love with it when I saw it in the gallery at Stampin' Addicts and had to recreate it! Mary Brown is the original creator of this card. I changed colors and added a knot to the ribbon. Mary had used Tempting Turquoise but I just had to use the new Pool Party! This is another card that I created for the Stampin' Up!'s Summer Mini swap that I done. This card use the stamp set Bold Blossom. It has four images and they are all on this card! Boy am I good! Just kidding! This stamp set will not be available again after August 31. So don't miss this set either!

Stamps: Bold Blossom

Ink: Certainly Celery, Pretty in Pink, Marina Mist, Real Red

Cardstock: Marina Mist, Real Red, Pretty in Pink, Whisper White

Accessories: Real Red grosgrain ribbon, Brights Brads, Blossom

Triple layer punch, Square Lattice embossing folder, dimensionals

The right side of this card is done with a technique called Inlaid Emboss. It's super simple! Cut out your shapes and glue them in place and run it through your embossing folder. My little butterfly is Rock and Rolled. Another of my favorite techniques! If you need help with either of these, let me know! Would love to create something fun with you!

I Scream, You Scream!

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! I LOVE ice cream and my hips show that I'm NOT lying! Anyway, I created this fun card using Stampin' Up!'s Sunny Fun and Pennant Parade. Sorry about the smudge on the card. My fingers get inky quite often and I usually don't realize it until I pick something up! With this card, the mark didn't get on it until I went to take the picture! Oh well, it's still cute!

Pennant Parade is one of my new favorites in the catalog. There is so much you can create with this stamp set and punch! I showed you Christmas trees and now an ice cream cone. What can you create?

Sunny Fun Swap Card

Way back in April, before Stampin' Up!'s Summer Mini was released, I joined a group of demonstrators in a swap. Swaps are where you make a predetermined number of cards or card fronts, mail them to the hostess and she will trade cards for you. I LOVE swaps! It's such a fantastic way to get ideas as well as samples of stamp sets you don't own! Swapping can be hard on the pocketbook though. There has been more than one time that I didn't think I needed a stamp set and then fell in love with a swap and HAD to have that set! Come on, you ALL know what I'm talking about!

Anyway, this is my card for this swap. It uses the stamp set named "Sunny Fun". My girls have really enjoyed this set! I've had some fun with it too!

Confirmation Cards

Well, I showed you all the fabulous pictures that I created for Confirmation, now I have to show you the cards that went with those gifts! These aren't very hard but I LOVED the way they turned out! I wasn't going to give my daughter, Abi, one because they were late and we had talked about it. She seemed OK with that until she saw the cards. Then she wanted one for her memory book too!

They really are the same, just different colors. It amazes me how just changing the color of something can change the feel and look of the card! The first one is done in Peach Parfait. The next one is Poppy Parade.

Here are the other 5 frames that I made for confirmation gifts! They are mostly Stampin' Up! They are also 8x10's. I have had a lot of fun making these for the young adults in our congregation! My oldest daughter, Abi, likes to help pick out the background papers and then I create from there!
